CONTROLLING SECURITY RISKS IN LARGE COMPUTER NETWORKS: THE HUMAN FACTOR
Süleyman Kondakci · 2003
In this paper we present an overall threat analysis rooted from human-based risk factors and specific vulnerability figures, which are inherent in the most information infrastructures, information systems, products, managements, and sources. The overall cost of unprotected information systems and sources presnets a remarkable impact, which most of IT project owners, and consumers are unaware of. Lack of awareness in technology and security is the main source of increased security risk factors. Questions such as, how to handle complex distributed environments by better architectures and technologies, how to develop efficient and secure systems for the e-government and e-business, how to improve IT security systems, can be answered when unawareness problems are thoroughly evaluated by certified test and evaluation facilities. We also suggest a consize approach for the IT security designers to improve the security of their systems and projects at hand.
