Meshing Software Component Technology Development and Integration
Paresh Patel, George Chen · 45th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit · 2007
Component based software engineering principles are used to develop a reusable and interoperable meshing software component. It provides services to create structured, unstructured, and hybrid mesh on CATIA V5 and ProEngineer models using the AdvancingFront/Paving, Delauney, and Mapped meshing algorithms. It also provides services to manage the mesh data like nodes and elements. It is built on the simulation component architecture. Common interfaces for mesh generation methods and mesh data management are defined using the simulation component architecture 0 s interface definition language. These interfaces encapsulate the details of mesh data structures and algorithms and provide services to build other components and applications more quickly and eciently. Moreover, a procedure to integrate the meshing component with an application via an adapter layer is described. Meshing component services can also be used through scripting languages to automate mesh generation tasks in simulation template, which captures the design analyst 0 s knowledge and experience to automate the computational design through simulation process. Successful integration of the meshing component with MSC SimXpert and MSC SimDesigner in a plug-and-play manner shows the significant benefit of using component technology for multidisciplinary high-performance scientific computing software development.
