Self-Configuration of Antenna Tilt and Power for Plug & Play Deployed Cellular Networks
András Temesváry · 2009
The concept of self-configuration of radio interface parameters is often mentioned as an important building block of emerging wireless systems, such as the 3GPP long term evolution (LTE) system. In this paper, we develop a framework concept and propose specific algorithms for the self-configuration of the antenna tilt and the transmission power of a base station, being the two most important cell parameters that need to be properly configured for the efficient operation of the system. The most important element that our concept builds upon is the use of available terminal measurements to perform the optimization on a running network as opposed to off-line planning combined with drive tests.
