SCATTERING OF SOUND BY A LIFTING BOUNDARY
Douglas Samuel Jones · The Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics · 1976
A rigid cylinder is placed in a fluid with steady velocity perpendicular to its generators and with a given circulation. The flow is irradiated by time-harmonic sound waves from a line source parallel to the cylinder. The far field is obtained when the Mach number of the background flow is small and the frequency of excitation is low. For a flat plate at incidence this far field may exhibit a peakiness in regions below the plate where it is undesirable.
