Shape-based interpolation is an important technique in the area of three dimensional reconstruction from cross-sectional images. A shape-based interpolation technique using the distance transform and morphological concept is presented. Experimental results of interpolation and 3D reconstructed surfaces for synthetic, CT and MRI slice images are given.
