Fair Finite-State Uplink Transmission Rate Allocation for Cellular Systems
Vesa Hasu, Heikki N. Koivo · 2005
This paper proposes decision techniques for transmission rate allocation in cellular radio systems with finite number of possible rates, while keeping quality-of-service (QoS) constraints and fairness between users in mind. The approach is based on a fair distribution of caused interference. Iterative and cell-wise up/down changes of transmission rates are considered based on the radio channel characteristics and QoS requirements. The proposed rate allocation is aimed especially to systems with antenna arrays in base stations, since the beamforming produces complexity to the rate allocation problem and decision variables.
