The State Design Pattern

J. Stanley Warford · 2002

The state design pattern is an object-oriented technique that uses inheritance and class composition. It is applicable to a variety of software design problems where an object needs to alter its behavior when its internal state changes. This chapter illustrates the state design pattern with implementations of a binary tree and a linked list. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
