Scalability Analysis of Wireless Sensor Networks Using Analytical Techniques

Mohammad Reza Sanatkar, Abbas Mohammadi · 2010

The analysis of scalability of wireless sensor networks is a challenging performance issue. In this paper,we employ an analytical method based on probability density function Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise-Ratio (SINR) of links to evaluate the performance of a wireless sensor network in terms of bit-error-rate (BER). We derive an analytical formula for the average of BER according to the physical resources allocated to the network and properties of routing method which is used. We show that link BER has a minimum in a specific node density value. This is called optimum density point. The analytical derivations have been validated using simulation studies.
