Reconstruction of three-dimensional images from serial cross-sections is described using structural techniques. Regions derived from seg mentation of cross-sections are linked or grown by application of similarity measures based on geometric properties of image regions. Data structures required for reconstruction and display include the region adjacency graph and region boundary partition.
