On The Implementation Of A 2-d Fir Filter Using A Single Multiplier
S.K. Mitra, G.K. Sorknes · 2005
Rabiner and Goldl have outlined an approach to the implementation of one-dimensional FIR digital filters using only one multiplier. This direct implemen- tation uses shift registers to store input values and either shift registers or read-only-memories (ROM's) to store the filter coefficients. Through appropriate shifting, the correct input and filter coefficient pair are presented to the multiplier inputs. These products are accumulated by an adder and a storage register. The main advantage of this technique is that only one multiplier is needed regardless of filter order thus reducing cost and power requirements.
