The role of object-oriented techniques and multi-agents in story understanding
N.R. Chavez, Roger T. Hartley · 2006
A story understanding system using object-oriented techniques and multi-agents is described. First, to help gauge future systems, a meter based on the goals and criticisms of previous work is established. In an attempt to satisfy this meter, a multi-agent script-based story understanding system is then described. This system is based on the high-level comprehension process psychologists believe humans use. The knowledge base (or memory) is oriented with respect to object-orientation. Thus, in a simple sense, understanding takes the form of objects and their relationships to other objects. Multi-agents help by encapsulating domain specific knowledge and in transforming the knowledge into the understanding.
