Exploring the Application Behavior Space Using Parameterized Synthetic Benchmarks

Ajay Joshi, Lieven Eeckhout, Lizy K. John · Ghent University Academic Bibliography (Ghent University) · 2007

The aim of this work is to propose such a framework, called BenchMaker, for constructing synthetic benchmarks whose code properties can be easily altered. BenchMaker enables altering inherent workload characteristics of a program by varying a limited number (40 in total) of key microarchitecture- independent program characteristics - changing the workload behavior is done by simply 'turning knobs'.
