Modelling and performance analysis of a channel reservation handoff scheme for multimedia wireless and mobile networks using smart antennas

Smart antennas are suggested to be used in future generation wireless and mobile networks to provide the service with high capacity and service quality. In this paper, we propose a novel multimedia wireless and mobile network using smart antennas. The smart antenna in the proposed system provides a Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) scheme to improve system capacity dramatically. In the proposed system, the Quality of Service (QoS) is guaranteed for real-time service at the cost of the tolerable quality decrease for non-real-time service. As we expected, the system capacity and performance are highly improved by employing smart antennas.
