Evaluation of speech recognition equipment in a vehicular environment

An automated procedure for testing commercial speech recognizers in a vehicular environment is presented. Experimental results illustrate the effect of several test parameters in both additive white Gaussian noise and vehicular noise. Two preprocessing procedures, highpass filtering and high-performance endpoint detection, are discussed and shown to improve the accuracy of the speech recognizers.>
