Design Optimization Of A Transducer For magnetomyography
N.P. Nantel, L. David Pengelly · 2005
In this paper we present the basis for optimizing a transducer for the detection of the magnetomyogram (MMG). Our purpose is to non-invasively assess deep muscle function with a sensitivity of lpTlJ” within a few cubic centimeters of tissue, centered at a depth of 2cm beneath the surface. The design consists of a magnetically shielded toroidal coil placed around the limb, with the shield slotted to partially expose the pick-up coil. The slotted shield trades off between noise immunity and spatial discrimination. The criteria for optimization are based on earlier systems of lower sensitivity, in addition to simulations of the desired system.
