Identification studies for twin electrode-pair stimulation with two different component pulse rates (cochlear implants)
Wai Kong Lai, Yit Chow Tong, J. Bruce Millar, Graeme M. Clark · 2003
It is shown that the introduction of a second electrode pair can help to improve the identification of stimuli of different pulse rates, particularly those at less than 200 pulses per second, presented on a given electrode pair. At higher pulse rates, the effect is less predictable. This can be incorporated into speech coding strategies which present different pulse rates on each of the two electrode pairs that are being stimulated to improve the identification of the encoded stimuli.>
