A new way to share buffer-grouped input queueing in ATM switching
Zhu Tao, Shixing Cheng · 2002
We propose a new input queueing model for ATM switching called grouped input queuing (GIQ). The basic idea is to divide the input ports into several groups and let input ports in one same group share the buffers. The GIQ model presents efficient utilization of buffers and high throughput of the cells (up to 96.2%). It also enhances the ability to resist and effects of burst traffic. The performance is studied in detail by computer simulation under both uniform and bursty traffic, together with a comparison with the performance of other queuing disciplines.
