The theory of counting processes is applied to several error-counting, debugging models from software reliability, the aim being to estimate the total number of bugs in the system and other parameters.Largesample results on the maximum likelihood estimators are obtained as the number of software bugs increases while the observation period remains fixed.Testing goodness-of-fit of the (parametric) models is also considered, using an "innovations" approach.
