Approximate reasoning in logistics
H.‐J. Zimmermann · 2002
Fuzzy technology has already been used considerably in different areas of logistics primarily for evaluation of traffic flows, for data mining in traffic management, for data fusion in traffic supervision and for fuzzifying existing control devices. It is now being used to considerably reduce the complexity of online decision making in container handling, making it more flexible and adaptive to quickly changing conditions. So far the experiences are encouraging, but considerably more work is needed to make approximate reasoning an attractive and reliable tool for decision automation and decision support.
