On-Line Databases in Mexico

The use of on-line bibliographic databases in Mexico is provided through SECOBI (Servicio de Consulta a Bancos de Información), a public service which provides information retrieval, document delivery, translation, technical support and training services. Institutional users may receive subsidized services through special contractual arrangements. The technical infrastructure is based on the public packet-switching network (TELEPAC). High priority has been given to the development of National Information Banks. The use of satellite communications is being studied.
