Blind Equalizer Based On Autocorrelation Lags

German Feyh, R. Klemt · 2005

HF Radio systems using two dimensional data communication signals need an adapting equalizer to minimize the effects of multipath distortion caused by the ionosphere. Conventional adaptive equalizers use a startup sequence to estimate the communication channel. Blind equalizers do not rely on a startup sequence and thus have no apriori knowledge of the transmitted data. They are typically derived from nonlinear transformations of the received signal [1,2]. We propose two adaptive equalizers, whose coefficients are the eigenvector coefficients corresponding to the extremal eigenvalue of a Hermitian matrix, based on the statistics of the received signal. The algorithms are analyzed and simulated using standard multichannel models.
