POWER-LEVELADAPTIVESYNCHRONIZATIONCIRCUITFOR SPREAD-SPECTRUM-BOK- RECEIVERSINBURSTTRANSMISSIONSYSTEMS

Paul Walter Baier, J. Meyer · 1982

Certain military communication systemsare basedon thejam-resistant bursttransmission of binarytelegrams whichconsistof orthogonal spread-spectrum waveforms (BOK).To regain the message content atthereceiver thea priori not knownarrival timesofthetelegrams haveto be detected bymeansofa synchronization circuit. In this papera novelpower-level adaptive synchronization circuit forproducing thetelegram alarmsis proposed. Thiscircuit showsCFAR-performance in thecaseofnoisejammersbutdoesnotshowthe degradation typicalfor othersynchronization systems (e.g. systemsemploying a hardbandpass limiter atthereceiver frontend)ifothertypes ofjamming signals arereceived. Theperformance ofthesynchronization circuitistheoretically analyzed fornoisejammersandCW-sinejammers. Someconsiderations concerning theinfluence of pulsed jammersarealsoincluded. Measurements finally confirm thetheoretical results.
