An optimization algorithm for physical database design

Adi-Cristina Mitea · 2006

Databases are almost everywhere. Today, software applications used in different domains contains and manage databases. The performance of these applications is determined in a great deal by the database structure and its capability to respond in a short and consistent way to the users needs. So, database design is an important step in the information system life cycle and it should be done in a proper manner. The paper presents an optimization algorithm for physical database design based on Cleanroom model. The algorithm helps to obtain an optimal structure for the database and to eliminate errors from the database designing process.
