A comparison of design methodologies
John Parker · ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Notes · 1978
INTRODUCTIO N The objective of this paper is to compare several design methodologie s and attempt to come to some conclusions as to which, in objective terms , is the 'right one' .Seven methodologies have been selected : 1. Modular Programming (MP .) 2. Top-Down Design based on Functional Decomposition (TDD) .3. Composite Design (CD) developed by Glenford J Myers .4. Structured Design (SD) developed by Larry L Constantine . 5. Structured Analysis Design Technique (SADT) developed by Douglas Ros s of Softech .6.The Logical Construction of Programs (LCP) and its sister methodology, the Logical Construction of Systems (LCS), developed b y Jean-Dominique Warnier .7. The Michael Jackson Structured Design Method (MJSD), developed b y Michael Jackson .Modular programming is included, not as a candidate, but to provide a basis for comparison and a start point .
