Snake-in-the-box codes as robust quantizer index assignments

A good assignment of binary codewords to cells is necessary for a scalar quantizer to be robust to channel errors. We investigate a redundant assignment method that uses snake-in-the-box codes, which have a desirable distance-preserving property.
