A broadband packet transport network

C.J. May · 2002

The author explores the constraints on an intelligent distributed network. The control protocol and the network elements introduced provide the required reliability, flexibility, and efficiency for broadband packet transport. The focus is on the transport function of a broadband packet network. Benchmarks offered by the network architecture are inexpensive virtual private networks, self-initializing and self-healing, minimum transport delay, and minimum delay variation. The transport protocol is relevant for all link rates. The overlay operating system sees a self-diagnosing network that needs minimal interaction for status or configuration verification.>
