Interactive signal processing documents

Malcolm Slaney · IEEE ASSP Magazine · 1990

Recently it has become possible to combine a powerful mathematical program with a word processor and thus create interactive scientific documents. The important features of an interactive document are described, and it is shown why such a document helps make research and learning more efficient. A program called Mathematica is used to illustrate the points made. A review of tools for signal processing and their desirable features is included to provide a background for the discussion.>
