An Integrated Modeling Environment For Object-oriented Simulation Of Ecological Models

Luca Del Furia, Andrea Emilio Rizzoli · 2005

A proposition for an integrated modelling and simulation environment is presented. The aim is to provide a modelling framework to help in developitzg complex models. The system is composed ofi the domain base, which holds a structural description of all components and their interaction processes; the model base, which contains the equations related to the components and processes; the database where input arid output data are stored and cata be accessed; and finally the rule base which guides the user in the choice of Fidel and in the interpretation of results. An applicution of the concepts presented in this paper was implemented with regard to modelling the eutrophication process in shallow lakes. The program was implemented mi a personal computer with MS-DOS operating system.
