Visual tracking using the harmony search algorithm
Jaco Fourie, Steven J. Mills, Richard Green · 2008
The harmony search algorithm is a meta-heuristic optimisation algorithm that mimics the improvisation process of musicians in a band or orchestra. A novel application of the harmony search algorithm is presented as it is applied to the visual tracking problem. A novel adaptation is made to the harmony search algorithm to improve performance under occlusion and is compared with a particle filter based implementation under the same conditions. Experimental results show that harmony search outperforms a particle filter implementation by maintaining a higher frame rate and producing a better estimate of the targetpsilas true position.
