A connectionist approach for default inference and conflict resolution

A connectionist inference method for a knowledge base containing default knowledge is proposed. The inference is realized as an adaptation process that detects and resolves conflicts between knowledge and external information. The authors' method consists of the network mechanism with a relaxation method and the logical mechanism that intervenes into the network to resolve the conflict based on the observation of the network state.>
