Curricular and performance measurement challenges in cloud environments
Bruce Hartpence · 2014
As more applications move to the cloud, the operation and performance of the cloud comes under greater scrutiny. In addition, educational programs incorporate more desktop and server virtualization. In trying to understand and work with this architecture, it is important to understand not only the structural change but the impact on performance metrics as well. Traditional tools used to measure performance and capacity of these connections may not take into account the cloud infrastructure itself or the behavior of these increasingly software based systems. This paper explores the mechanisms typically used for evaluating typical connections established for coursework and the issues associated measurement in this environment.
