Soft detection of USF for EGPRS modems

We propose a method for control signal detection in enhanced global packet radio services (EGPRS) modems, which utilizes soft values. Although the method described is for detection of uplink state flag (USF) sequences by the downlink receiver, it can be generalized to other cases as well.
