Investigation of peer-to-peer radio transmission range in peer-to-peer enabled TD-SCDMA system
Dan Shang, Li Sun · 2005
This paper analyses the P2P (peer-to-peer) radio transmission range in P2P enabled TD-SCDMA system via system level simulation. The investigation is done from two aspects: the mobile terminal consumption power and the maximal number of supported users per cell. P2P enabled TD-SCDMA could benefit operators, mobile users and product vendors in terms of increased capacity, better service and new features. Nevertheless, its benefit is relevant to some P2P related factors, such as radio transmission range between two users in P2P and the P2P ratio. In this paper, the relation between the system performance and the P2P related factors are investigated by analyzing the simulation results. The simulation results show that the P2P can bring significant system performance gain when the P2P distance is shorter than 1/3 cell radius and the ratio of P2P users is higher than 50%. For the situation of lower ratio of P2P users than 50%, the system performance is still acceptable, compared with the conventional system performance, to support its other fascinating features, such as the attractive applications. In addition, all the evaluation is based on the voice service.
