A Partitioning Scheme For Multiple Pla Based Control Part Synthesis In Ideas

In this paper, we present a scheme for PLA based eficient implementation of the control part of digital systems described in IDEAL. The scheme is based on a Petri-net like model of digital systems called R-net. The main idea is topartition an R-net into a set of smaller Rnets belonging to a restricted class such that each one of these can be described as an FSM and realized as a PLA in an eficient manner. The partitioning is based on the control Constructs in the behavioral description and lea& to significant reduction in chip area. Eficient handling of parallel and asynchronous descriptions is a major strength of this scheme.
