Multiple - Paradigm Approaches For Software Process Modeling

Marc I. Kellner · 2005

Many of the languages and approaches proposed to date for software process modeling employ multiple language paradigms for representation and enaction capabilities. This paper presents the hypothesis that diversity among the goals and objectives for modeling virtually necessitates multi-paradigm approaches. Various objectives are shown to place differing requirements on a modeling approach. In addition, common single language paradigms are examined in relation to several modeling objectives. The conclusions are useful both in explaining the prevalence of multi-paradigm approaches seen to date, and in highlighting the rich variety of requirements to be met by such approaches.
