There is a growing interest in designing high-speed network devices to process packet at flow level above the network layer. A basic operation inherent to such systems is the task of maintaining per-flow state in order to correctly perform their higher-level processing. In this paper, we present an efficient TCP flow state management algorithm in high-speed network. First we devise all flow states and their transformation in conformity to TCP state machine. Based on the flow state transformation, we design the flow state management applying recently accessed first principle and budding connection buffer mechanism. According to the design scheme, the implementation is illustrated in a formal way. Experimental results illustrate that our flow state management algorithm performs better than the traditional one especially under DoS attacks.
