A reuse based approach for requirements engineering

Ounsa Roudiès, Mounia Fredj · 2002

The interest in conceptual and software reuse is no longer to show time and cost savings, quality improvements, etc.; it is now essential, in requirements engineering (RE) in particular, because of the frequent evolution of requirements. However, its practical application requires a transformation of working methods: (1) the constitution of a library of components, and (2) analysis guided by the reuse of components. Among the various vectors of components, design patterns are a privileged solution. The development of our "Requirements Diagnosis" pattern language illustrates the transmission of know-how in requirements analysis. Its application shows how the analyst is guided, in a flexible way, to identify the problems and assets of a legacy system in order to analyse the finalities of the organization and to identify its requirements.
