Evaluation of cavity quantum electrodynamics parameters for a planar-cavity geometry

We investigate how a two-level system inside of a planar cavity behaves as a cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system. Starting from a three-dimensional model, the method for determining the cavity-QED parameters $(g,\ensuremath{\kappa},\ensuremath{\gamma})$ is presented, and the parameters are evaluated as functions of the input beam profile. It is shown that suppression of the radiative loss of cavity photons is possible by engineering the lateral profile of the input beam.
