J.A. Azarcon, R.L. Rothery, D.S. Sharp · 2003

Wireless access has a place in the emerging telecommunication networks of developing countries. Unlike developed countries, where wireless will improve the portability and convenience of a basic service, wireless access is a potentially powerful technology for developing countries, enabling rapid and cost effective deployment of basic service. The essential ingredient is a dramatic, order of magnitude cost improvement over conventional technology. Although rural is emphasized, the figures and concepts embrace both urban and rural landscapes.>
