Fingerprinting magnetic media

The authors develop a technique to determine and extract a unique signature from a given magnetic recording medium (tape, disk, etc.). This feature is always recoverable and not permanently corruptible, making the individual medium readily identifiable with virtually no possibility of mistaking one for another. Results from experimental research are presented followed by a short discussion of some possible applications.>
