The Amitsur—Levitzki Theorem
Vesselin Drensky, Edward Formanek · Birkhäuser Basel eBooks · 2004
The main results of the next two chapters are the two most important theorems about the identities of n x n matrices, the Amitsur—Levitzki Theorem and the existence of central polynomials. Both theorems are important in both the structural and combinatorial sides of PI-theory, and will be proved here as well as in Drensky’s course on combinatorial PI-theory. Since there are four essentially different proofs of the Amitsur-Levitzki Theorem and many constructions of central polynomials, Drensky and I will give different proofs of both results.
