Mathematical treatment of concrete carbonation process: A moving one-phase approach
Toyohiko Aiki, Adrian Muntean · TU/e Research Portal · 2010
Recently, we have considered a free-boundary problem describing nonlinear reaction phenomena driving a sharp interface into a porous non-saturated material. The problem is closely related to the concrete carbonation process and it represents a reduced formulation of the model proposed by Muntean and Böhm in [6]. In this paper, we rely on first principles modeling and elementary physics to derive the moving-interface conditions for our simplified model and give a brief overview on our recent works.
