Open source basics

Johndan Johnson-Eilola · 2002

In this paper, I will provide a basic overview of issues related to the use of source models for development and distribution of computer documentation. The first section of the paper defines the key relations among different open categories (ranging from standards to free software). The second section of the paper argues for two different methods for implementing source models for computer documentation, one that offers increased user input into documentation projects and another that works to redefine how users and customers understand the importance and value of documentation.
