BIOSIM: SIMULATING SPACE HABITATS FOR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE RESEARCH

David Kortenkamp, Scott Bell · International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence · 2005

Integrated monitoring and control of space habitats is an important research area in artificial intelligence with long-termbenefits to NASA’s Explorationstrategy. Habitats support human life in hostile environments. They need to provide all life support functions, ideally using regenerative, closed-loop systems. We have developed an integrated simulation of a habitat and its life support systems. Several research groups are using this simulation to explore integrated monitoring and control. This paper surveys both the integrated simulation and current research using that simulation.
