Cooperation Efficiency in the Low Power Regime

Zigui Yang, Anders Høst-Madsen · 2006

We investigate the cooperation efficiency in the low power regime. We develop cooperation methods that are particularly efficient in the low power regime. The results show that there is a large gain in E b N0 min from cooperation when considering outage capacity in contrast to the fact that there is little gain in the high SNR regime in neither outage or ergodic capacity. This shows that cooperative communications can be especially advantageous for sensor networks, where energy efficiency is of key importance, and where perhaps each sensor has a certain rate requirement.
