Spectrum reuse in microcellular and distributed antenna systems
Huiling Zhu, Jiangzhou Wang · 2011
The microcellular system and distributed antenna system (DAS) are two promising systems to provide high data rate for future wireless communications, especially for the cell edge of the macrocell, because both systems can reduce the radio transmission distance. The cell edge spectrum efficiency is theoretically compared between the two systems in a network topology with seven macrocells, each of which has seven hexagonal sectors. Numerical results show that, when the spatial diversity and spectrum reuse are adopted in the DAS, the cell edge spectrum efficiencies per sector in the DAS is larger than these in the microcellular system.
