An Efficient Radiation Treatment of a Brain Tumor
N. Prabhakaran, Ling Wang, Jay Mookherje · 2005
The paper provides a highly efficient radiation treatment method that would maximize the effect or radiation in tumor regions and minimize the radiation on normal tissues. To present an algorithm for the development of an efficient radiation treatment system, the paper addresses three problems, namely identification of three dimensional boundaries of the brain and the tumor, decomposition of the tumor into a minimal number of spheres that would cover only the tumor without any gap, and computation of optimal radioactive paths for each of these spheres.
