Footprints: history-rich web browsing
Alan Wexelblat, Pattie Maes · 1997
We present and describe a system called Footprints which uses history information to help people browse Web sites. Footprints maps the traffic through a Web site, which helps people new to the informatio get a sense for what kinds of experiences the Web site might offer. This information is also useful for information designers who need tools complementary to standard hit-count techniques in order to understand the effects of varying information presentation.
