Taxonomy of faults in wireless networks
Bhagyavati · 2006
Two critical issues in wireless networks are fault management and robustness. Addressing these issues makes the network fault tolerant and secure, and also provides better reliability and availability of resources. While researchers have focused on network management, fault detection and recovery, a classification of faults unique to wireless networks is needed. In this paper, we attempt to present a specific taxonomy of faults in wireless networks. Although some faults are similar to those encountered in wired networks, others are characteristic of wireless environments due to the nature of the medium and the mobility of the nodes.
