On the Equivalence of Spearman-Kärber and Maximum Likelihood Estimates of the Mean

In this article, we show that two methods of estimating the mean of a distribution using quantal response data are often equivalent. The two estimates considered are the Spearman-Kärber and an estimate discussed in a previous article by the authors [4]. The latter is based on a maximum likelihood solution for a nonparametric problem.
